LEADER OF RON AND THE CLASSICS.

    LEAD  VOCAL

Ron Acierno was born and raised on Long Island.   He began playing guitar and singing in college (UVa).  After graduation, Ron continued his music, appearing at local NY venues and on local TV as a single.  In the mid 60s, Ron took a leave of absence from graduate school to perform at many of Miami Beach's oceanfront hotels (including the Dunes, Doral, Castaways, Diplomat) and Miami's Playboy Club.  While performing at one of the hotels, Ron met and became engaged to a seriously attractive woman.  A few weeks later, Ron's agent told him that he had just gotten his big break:  10 weeks at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas for big bucks.  Ron was also informed that Frank Sinatra had been told about him and was coming to see him opening night.  When Ron realized that he had to leave his girlfriend that night and be away from her for 10 weeks, he declined the offer.  The couple broke up two weeks later.  Ron quit show business and returned to finish graduate school to become a psychology professor and psychotherapist.  Thirty-six years later, in 2001, Ron resumed his singing career as a single.  He was playing guitar and singing at monthly barbeques on the Dunedin Causeway when Dr. Ron, a chiropracter, asked if he could sing some harmony.  That was the begining of the Ron-Ron Duo.  Dr. Ron decided to move to Arizona to be near his family, so Ron placed an ad on the bulletin board of Stevie B's Guitar store.  After several people who said they could sing harmony and play guitar auditioned, Jay called Ron to audition.  He was the man for the job. A few months later, a female singer, Deb McNabb, was added and the group's name was changed to Ron And The Classics.  Deb wanted to sing her original songs, so she decided to strike out on her own.  One week earlier, Ron had heard Linda sing and was enthralled with her beautiful voice.  The morning after Deb informed Ron that she was leaving the group, Ron called Linda, who joined the group in time for a concert at Olds Park for the City of Oldsmar that evening and she's been with Ron And The Classics ever since.  Ron, Jay and Luis were singing at a resort in Lutz, when they heard Debbie Bowen for the first time.  She had just started singing in public, but showed some professional potential.  Six months later, they heard Debbie again and were shocked at how she had improved so quickly.  At Ron's invitation, she began singing with the group whenever they performed at this resort.  Currently, Debbie alternates with Jay and Linda and has developed into one of the best country singers in Florida--and nobody can sing "At Last" the way she sings it.
